Kam Tai Tsung Tsin Church

Tsung Tsin Mission of Hong Kong Kam Tai Church

By our Heavenly Father's grace, the Tsung Tsin Mission of Hong Kong Kam Tai Church ("Kam Tai Tsung Tsin Church") was founded in 2003 by its mother church, Mongkok Tsung Tsin Church. It meets inside Tsung Tsin Mission Graceful Kindergarten (Ma On Shan) and serves the community and families of Ma On Shan. We remember God's great grace, know His salvation and receive abundant life.

History of the Tsung Tsin Mission

In 1846 the Basel Mission in Switzerland sent missionaries Theodore Hamberg (1819-54), a Swede, and Rudolph Lehler (1824-1908), a German, to China to serve Hakka- and Chiu Chow-speaking people in Hong Kong. In 1862 the first Tsung Tsin church was built in Sai Ying Pun, now Salvation Church, as the base for the mission's work in China.

A Short History of Kam Tai Tsung Tsin Church

In 2000 Mongkok Tsung Tsin Church was invited by the Tsung Tsin Mission of Hong Kong to open a kindergarten in Kam Tai Court, Ma On Shan. In 2002 Rev. 麥美蓮 and Elder 張偉忠 began gospel ministry at Tsung Tsin Mission Graceful Kindergarten (Ma On Shan).

On 5 January 2003 the mother church held a commissioning service and the opening service of the Kam Tai branch. That year SARS swept Hong Kong, yet the work went on, worship continued and the congregation stood firm in faith. In the spirit of Christ, the church works with the kindergarten to serve student families in Ma On Shan and bear witness to the Lord.

In 2008 the branch celebrated its fifth anniversary and God's grace over five years, committing to extend the Kingdom, build up believers and serve through evangelism, discipleship, family ministry, workplace witness and community service. Jesus said, "As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work." (John 9:4)

In 2014, at its eleventh anniversary, the branch praised God for His cords of love and kept serving families, building close church-school partnership, reaching parents with the gospel and growing children's ministry such as children's fellowship, children's choir, the Boys' Brigade and summer Bible classes. "Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it." (Proverbs 22:6)

On 5 January 2014 Kam Tai Church became a self-supporting church of the Tsung Tsin Mission of Hong Kong. Believers are taught, built up and nurtured so that their faith stands firm to the end. "The one who stands firm to the end will be saved." (Matthew 24:13)

In 2015 Kam Tai Church went the extra mile and applied to become a member church of the Hong Kong Chinese Christian Churches Union.
